libgdal-ruby1.8 software package provides Ruby 1.8 bindings to the Geospatial Data Abstraction Library, you can install in your Debian 7 (Wheezy) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libgdal-ruby1.8
libgdal-ruby1.8 is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libgdal-ruby1.8 package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libgdal-ruby1.8 *
You will get with libgdal-ruby1.8 package name, version, architecture and description in a table
